Adult fiction authors for young adults

Recently, whilst searching for new books by any of my favourite authors, I discovered something unexpected. Some very well known adult fiction writers are now writing specifically for young adults!

I was very impressed, all the more so when I went and read their new books. Not only did they keep the 'it' factor that made their books intriguing to me, but they also managed to rejig their stories to a younger audience, without talking down.

So if you are interested in a new author for a young adult reader, let me introduce you to two established adult novelists, with something new and fresh in young adult fiction.

Harlan Coben - Shelter
After tragic events tear Mickey Bolitar away from his parents, he is forced to live with his estranged Uncle Myron and switch high schools, where he finds both friends and enemies, but when his new new girlfriend, Ashley, vanishes, he follows her trail into a seedy underworld that reveals she is not what she seems to be.

Kathy Reichs - Seizure

Ever since Tory Brennan and her friends rescued Cooper, a kidnapped wolf pup with a rare strain of canine parvovirus, they've turned from regular kids into a crime-solving pack! But now the very place that brought them together - the Loggerhead Island Research Institute - is out of funding and will have to shut down. That is, unless the Virals can figure out a way to save it!

Try them out and let us know what you think!
