James Moloney

We were lucky enough to host the author James Moloney at our Endeavour Hills and Narre Warren Libraries during Book Week. James spoke to over 100 secondary students about his books and the writing process. Pictured is Kate, a huge fan of James' book The Book of Lies and his latest release Kill the Possum.

Meet Julie @ Pakenham Library

Hi, my name is Julie and I work at the Pakenham Library. I'm a single mum with 2 teenagers in high school so our house is always buzzing with people. I've worked for the library for ages and in that time I have mainly worked with children who come to storytime, class visits, book clubs and holiday programs.

The hardest question that I have been asked as a librarian is "Who is your favourite author or favourite book?" I read heaps of stuff - both kids, teens and adult books and it all depends what I have just read! With that said I am partial to a good murder/mystery, most titles by Sonya Hartnett and anything illustrated by Bruce Whatley or Craig Smith.

I love my peace and quiet so it's great when my kids go to their mates and I'm left at home with my two pug dogs to read, garden and watch DVD's alone.

Kill the Possum

Kill the Possum is an insight into domestic violence.

Dylan is infatuated with Kirsty Beale but when he arrives at her house and meets her family he enters a whole new world of fear and menace. Kirsty's father is a bully and before long, well-meaning Dylan decides to take matters into his own hands. A gripping page-turner by well known Australian author.

Don't judge a book ... Triskellion

Triskellion by Will Peterson.

But we do judge a book by it's cover and that was what caught my attention. Dark blue with gold bees crawling over it with the title in bright red! Very eye catching.
Rachel and Adam are sent to their grandmothers in the quiet English village of Triskellion, following their parents bitter divorce.
The picturesque village hides a brooding history of sinister danger that the two outsiders stumble upon. The villagers of Triskellio
have a great deal to protect.

Combining edge-of-the-seat suspense, gripping mystery and archaeological adventure makes this fascinating reading with a paranormal twist. With fantasy and history rolled together this is the first young adult novel in a planned trilogy by Will Petersen.
